About
Narratives, positioning, and product/market fit for technology companies
Outcome Partners is a one-to-one partnership with a senior operator who has spent three decades making complex technology legible to the market, not an agency, not a junior team learning on your budget.
Founder & CEO
Matt Trifiro
For three decades Matt has done one thing: take complex technology that engineers love and skeptics dismiss, and turn it into a market narrative that makes adoption feel inevitable.
At Heroku, he helped define Platform as a Service as a category for developer tools. At Mesosphere, as the first senior executive at an 11-person company, he created the Datacenter OS category, de-positioning Kubernetes and Docker. At Vapor IO, he built an unknown startup into the company that defined edge computing, winning the planet's largest infrastructure providers as customers.
At Salesforce, he led the launch of Desk.com, one of the most successful product launches in the company's history, scaling acquisition from dozens of customers a month to thousands. Earlier, he co-founded Wink Communications, an interactive-TV startup that went from whiteboard to a ~$1B NASDAQ IPO.
He has built technology narratives since he was a game designer for the Atari 800 and a technical writer for the Commodore 64. He does not just understand technology markets; he grew up inside them.

Category creation
Four categories defined from zero
The launch and category-creation record behind the method.
Platform as a Service
As CMO, helped define PaaS as a category and led the company's transition into enterprise sales with the launch of Heroku One.
Datacenter Operating System
First senior executive at an 11-person, mostly stealth company. Created the DCOS category and de-positioned Kubernetes and Docker on the way to a Microsoft-backed Series C.
Edge Computing
Seven years as CMO turning an unknown startup into the company that defined edge computing, winning the planet's largest infrastructure providers as customers and partners.
Enhanced Television
One of five founders. Claimed 'enhanced television' as the industry's vocabulary and took the company from whiteboard to a ~$1B NASDAQ IPO.
Point of view
Why this firm exists now
Matt's current focus is frontier technology: AI, robotics, commercial open source, developer platforms, and the infrastructure required to make autonomous systems useful, trusted, and adopted.
- The winners will not merely have better machines. They will have clearer narratives, sharper categories, and go-to-market motions that help customers understand where the technology belongs in their businesses.
- Robotics compresses everything hard about technology marketing into one category: software, hardware, AI, safety, operations, trust, and real-world behavior.
- A great narrative is a force multiplier: it reduces cognitive load, surfaces the real issues faster, and turns strategy into execution without adding bureaucracy.
